Week 34/Baby Showers Galore!

Week 35 starts tomorrow!! Lots of exciting things since last post-- baby showers, my last ultra sound before the babes are born, nonstress test, bedroom put together, AND to top everything off, I only have 4 or 5 maternity shirts that still fit. Yikes.

I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and we spent TWO HOURS at the clinic. Gross. But the sonogram was fun, even though it only accounted for 30-ish minutes out of the two hours. Baby Boy weighed in at 5 pounds 11 ounces and Baby Girl was a little smaller at 4 pounds 15 ounces..THAT IS TEN AND A HALF POUNDS OF BABY, PEOPLE. No wonder pregnant women waddle!! I think I've done pretty good with the whole not waddling thing but unfortunately, my toes/feet/ankles/shins/knees (and one time my FACE was even puffy) have swollen to the point of me not being able to bend them so now, I have no choice but to walk like a duck. You try walking with out bending your ankles and toes and let me know how it works out for you. But at the sonogram, the lady saw Baby Girl's hair (which was not very much and very very fine) and then she went to Baby Boy's side and saw his hair and it looked like it was everywhere!! So the heartburn pregnancy "myth" is true!! Also, Baby Girl had the hiccups through the whole appointment and it was adorable to watch on the screen. It seems like she always has the hiccups and to finally get to WATCH her little body jumping around was just so exciting (AND CUTE). Since Baby Boy weighed so much more than Baby Girl, my doctor wanted me to get a non-stress test done at the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 830 pm for what was supposed to be a 20 minute thing and we were there until 1030! All they had to do was listen to both heartbeats at the same time for twenty minutes straight. Sounds easy? It apparently wasn't easy because my sweet little babies were having rowdy time and moving around too much for them to find both heartbeats at the same time... after an hour and a half of battling with the babies, a nurse FINALLY found and kept both heartbeats on the monitor for twenty minutes and we got to go home. After a quick stop at McDonald's for shakes, we made it home around midnight. Such a long day!! But luckily, everything was fine and my babes are as healthy and cute as ever!

I've had three baby showers in the last three weeks. Its been fun getting to see old friends and some family that I don't get to see very often. The first baby shower took place in Mimi's loft and consisted of mainly my dad's side of the family plus a few people from my mom's side. The second shower was held at Nana Kay's house with the church ladies and several other women. The third was at my house, thrown by my beautiful friend, Hannah, with all my friends from high school and college. It was so great to have most of my friends all in one place at one time. I am so so happy I got to see them! :)

**Prepare for five million pictures**

(Looking back at pictures, I guess I had four baby showers... but the first one was just my immediate family and my grandma and her sisters)

My grandma, Nana (left) and her twin, Mae..still matching :)

My brother and Sarah :):) Cute business.

**My cousin, Nikki, ALSO made two beautiful blankets but I can't find the pictures of them :(

Thank goodness for helpful, crafty, creative, talented cousins! I am so lucky!

My awesome mom and I :)

And these next couple of pictures have nothing to do with babies but they are darn cute and I found them on my mom's camera and thought they needed to be shared.

Is he going to be the sweetest uncle ever or what?! :)

And if these two get any cuter, I'll be sick. I can't explain how many pictures my mom took of them just being cute. I controlled myself and didn't post all 500 of them.

Whew! What a busy couple of weeks. If I updated this blog more often, I wouldnt have blogposts with 500 bazillion million pictures. I have pictures of my new room but I think I'll just make that a blog post in itself in a few days. Blogging takes alot out of this lil mama!!

Have a happy week!!

Week 32

I had my first Mother's Day and I got to spend it with Jacob at the Manhattan Zoo and then we came home to my house and had a lovely supper on the patio with my family. My mom got me a sweet little book and a subscription to American Baby. I also got a coupon from my friends, Matt and Haylie and some TOMS from my sweet friend, Amanda. :)

I've spent the last few weeks working and getting larger by the minute. Some days it feels like I'm carrying two 500 pound babies in there. And little miss Baby Girl thinks its fun to act a fool in my rib cage to the point of my ribs popping. Ouch. Before I was pregnant the size of a cruise ship, I could sleep like a champ. I would lay down and be asleep within minutes and not wake up until my alarm went off the next morning. It was phenomenal. BUT NOW, I wake up every 30 minutes to reposistion because I can't breathe, or have heartburn, or my ribs/back/everything hurts. I think its some sort of sick joke that I can't get a full nights sleep before the babies get here because as EVERYONE so kindly (<-sarcasm) tells me, I won't be sleeping for the next 18 years or so. Update-- I am fully aware babies don't sleep through the night. THANK YOU.

I've been having a good time with Braxton Hicks contractions. They've been going on for about the last week and a half and the first night I had one, I also had a dream that the babies were born and I didn't have their (ha, OUR) room ready. I didn't have bottles. Crib. Nothing. It was scary. I woke up in a panic and spent the next two days making lists (that I've now lost) of what I need to do before they get here.

ALSO- I'm at 32 weeks now, so if the babes wait to get here for another four weeks, then we HOPEFULLY dont have to be in the NICU. Which is the goal. I think having nurses take my sweet little babies away RIGHT AFTER I have them would be the worst thing ever and I would most definitely cry. But lets be honest, I sometimes cry at Pampers commercials. Right when I think I'm doing good emotionally, something ridiculous happens and I just melt. Its usually because I watch a Baby Story and then I see the babies and everything IS JUST SO BEAUTIFUL that I cant help but cry.

My next doctor's visit is on Thursday and my bff Anna is going with me. Its not a sonogram, just a really boring appointment where I sit in the waiting room for three hours and then talk to my doctor for three minutes and its over. Annoying. But after that, we're going to shop all day and then meet my OTHER bff, Amanda for pedicures! My toes are gonna look dang good when I have these babies.

PICTURES!

I was so excited when I got my crib bedding today. AND the box was even cute. AND the tape on the box! So yes, I took a picture of it. (Picture of crib bedding next time I blog maybe.)

My new Toms :)
Thanks, Amanda!!

You know its cute. I have the best friends in the world.

AND the best Reggie in the world :)  If you can't read it, it says:

"Happy 1st Mother's day! I <3 u and bby A & bby B

<3 Reggie"

CUTE.

What a long winded blog post! I'm off for a walk waddle with my mom :)

Love, Olivia, Baby Girl and Baby Boy

P.S.- I don't want to toot my own horn but... at my last sonogram, the ultrasound tech was very impressed with my lack of stretch marks. And now, two weeks later, I still don't have any!! AND, I haven't gained weight since Easter..but the babies have? I don't know how that works but if my doctor is cool with it (Which she is),then so am I! Have a great week!

Week 29

Well, Week 29 (And 28, and 27, and 26) has been pretty eventful. Brendon went to prom, Meagan broke the SHS high jump record (She cleared 5'5) and Reggie "crossover"-ed in Girl Scouts, and the parents went to Cancun! I've been working and running (not actually running, hah) between Highland and Sabetha a lot. I'm making sure to get lots of girl time with Hannah and "not parents yet" time with Jacob in before the kidlets make their appearance.
I read a few weeks ago that if someone puts their ear up to your belly and listens real close they MIGHT MAYBE be able to hear a little heartbeat.. So, Jacob tried it. And got punched/kicked in the ear. Then he tried again a few weeks later and actually got to hear baby boy's heart beat! YAY!
Also, the names are pretty much picked out and decided on.. not set in stone because we all know how indecisive I am, but we're like 99.97% sure what the names will be. And I'm excited! And if you ask, I won't tell you. Because its a secret. AND I could  still change my mind. AND I really don't want to hear someone say "Thats weird/boring/odd/different/unique/ugly/anythingbutthebestnameever." So there's that. Here are a few pictures from the last week! :)

I bought a new camera and this was the first picture we took with it..
I thought it was blog-worthy :)

Jacob put a bowling ball in his shirt..? I look like a fool in this picture but I think it accurately describes our relationship- lots of laughing. :)

My beautiful friend, Hannah.

My man and I at the art show :) :)

If you want to look 15-20 lbs lighter, take a picture with a pregnant girl. Works every time. ;)

Its been a great week spent with great people that I love. :) :)

BUT. Thats not to say that I haven't been extra moody. YOU try carrying around a 679 pound belly and see how chipper you are!!

Here's a short list of things that irritate the scary pregnant girl this week:

1. People who look at my belly before making eye contact. RUDE.
2. Hearing that one of my favorite teachers at SHS is saying not so nice
things about my "situation". I realize that being unwed and pregnant isn't
exactly ideal, and that the timing is bad, and blah blah blah. But I don't
think SASS MOUTHIN about me to a bunch of high schoolers is really
going to change anything. Thanks for the kind thoughts though. <- sarcasm.
3. Putting shoes on. Not happening.
4. Painting my toe nails. Again, not happening. (Volunteers?)
5. Picking up things when I drop them.
6. Ankles that look more like tree trunks than dainty girly ankles.
7.Heartburn. Holymolysweetchocolatestarfish heartburn. If the pregnancy
wives' tale is true that heartburn makes babies have hair... my
babies are gonna look like monkies.

Here's to another fun, sassy week!

Week 23

Well, a belly picture in my pajamas was sure to happen eventually. The past few weeks have been busy times! And the weather has been nice.. who wants to be inside writing about getting fat when you can be outside? I had a doctor's appointment on Friday, and the babes are lookin good. I read a thing every week to see what's going on with them and this week it said that the baby (it was written for people who do the one baby at a time thing) should be around one pound. WELL GUESS WHAT?! My BABIES are each a pound and a half. I win. Jacob got to see the babies on the ultrasound screen and hear their heartbeats for the first time at this appointment so that was exciting (and cute). My doctor briefly talked about moving my due date up, which sounds AWESOME..but he didn't.

On Saturday, we reached 24 weeks which is considered "viability age". If (god forbid) the babies are born soon, they have a much higher chance of surviving. Good job, babes!!

The babies are moving around A LOT. The number on the picture isn't exact.. but its pretty close, I think. I can see them moving around in there and sometimes they'll jab me right on the edge of my ribs and it'll hurt a little but its not too bad yet. Mostly just cute. My awesome cousin Natalie**, has lent me her fetal doppler monitor so I can listen to the babes' heartbeats whenever I want! We've been having lots of fun with that. (**Natalie had her bebe, Lillian Margaret Deters and she is a doll.) I've been crafting and trying my best to get our sewing machine going but its taking awhile..especially because I get distracted or mad and leave it for a few days.. I'll post pictures of what I've made in my next post..I've mostly just been hoarding fabric.

So its been a good few weeks! And by comparing the pictures it looks as if I've grown quite a bit. Yikes. But, good news- NO stretch marks yet. and I lotion like a crazy person and drink lots of water so hopefully we keep those to a minimum :)

Have a great week! :)

Week 21

I cry when I watch The Help. I cry when I think about not sharing a room with my sister anymore. I cry when I think about Brendon going to college. I cry when I think about not being in Sabetha when Reggie is going through Highschool. I cry when I get acceptance letters from where I would be attending college next semester. I cry when I watch youtube videos. ANY youtube video. Okay, not any youtube video.. mainly those videos of men who have served our country coming home and surprising their families. My dad walked in the living room the other day and sees me crying on the couch.* Hesistantly, he says "...what's wrong?" and in my ugly cry voice I say "IM JUST WATCHING YOUTUBE VIDEOSSSS WAHHH." Doug laughs, rolls his eyes, and says "Oh Olivia" and walked away before things got out of hand. I tried so hard to laugh about it but that is a very hard thing to do when you're crying!! So then I get a hold of myself and walk into the kitchen and sit down and my dad told me to explain to my mother what the heck just happened in the living room. So NATURALLY, I start crying again while trying to tell my mom what I was watching on youtube. Fun fact about Olivia: Once I start crying about something, it takes SEVERAL hours for me to get completely settled down. I can't think about it or talk about it with out getting worked up all over again. I was this way before I was pregnant. But now that I'm pregnant, I cry over everything! Everything. I finally got myself settled down enough to explain to my parents and sibling why I was a crying raving lunatic for thirty minutes. We had a good laugh and then my dad made guacamole. Guacamole makes everything 3548654x better. Especially when it is made by my dad who is a grocer, not in the military. THANK GOD. I have the emotional stability of a two year old. Happy one minute, ugly crying the next. I'm not sure how I would handle my dad being away for so long.

My first year of college I cried every Sunday night when I left to go back to Highland. Because I love the crap out of the people that I live with. I can't imagine a better family. A better mom, a better dad, a better brother, better sisters. Long story short, (or maybe long story long?) when crap happens that makes me cry (i.e. getting an acceptance letter from the K-State Interior Design program for Fall of 2012, which I will not be attending) there is no one else I would rather cry on than my family. Sometimes I get sad that I'm not in Highland (or at any college really) taking art classes and running around my friends and acting all crazy....but then I remember the people that I am so blessed to live with. I get to come home and watch my brother and dad make fools of themselves walking up and down the stairs trying (and failing) to make it look like they are on an escalator. I get to stay up late with Meagan and laugh at things that aren't even funny. I get to enjoy family dinners when we are all home. I get to laugh with my mom over silly baby things. I get to watch Reggie kiss my belly twice every night before she goes to bed. I get to be surrounded by all this love while I'm going through this pregnancy. I get to be with my favorite people in the whole world. How can I be sad about anything when I get to be around these people? I can't wait for these two little babes to join our family and love it just as much as I do.

* My dad walked in RIGHT after I had watched a guy surprise his daughter at a cheer competition, so naturally I was putting myself in her shoes and thinking about what it would be like to not see my dad everyday SO NATURALLY* I was sobbing uncontrollably. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0nMPHuuU74)

*Saying "So, naturally" is my way of making myself feel better about crying over everything.
Because its NATURAL to cry over everything. Naturally.

Here are some pictures of the people I love :)

Now that I'm done being Emotional Olivia....here are some pictures from the last week or so :)   (looking these over, they are not from the last week. They are all from yesterday. I did not wear the same tshirt and sweatpants all week.)

Meagan and I got a little carried away with the stroller pictures..

and then I made Nutella cresent rolls.. And left them in the oven a tiny bit too long.

And then we snarfed. Of course Meagan looks cuter than me.

Natalie- 39 weeks, Me- 21 weeks.
Can't wait to meet Baby Girl Deters next week!! :)

After this was taken, Meagan looks at it and says "Hm. It looks like we're sisters or something."
And at the same time we both say "No. You were adopted."
Haha, sisters indeed!

Here's an actual picture of my stroller.. (sans me acting like a hooligan)
It has two seats but I laid them both down all the way since los bambitos wont be
able to sit up this summer when we're using it.

And...Meagan trying to make it look like she's in the stroller? ...Did not work.

We're half way done with being pregnant! WOOHOO!! It hasn't been a barrel of fun for me. Tired, sickish, headaches, leg cramps, sore belly....Name a body part and I have something weird going on with it. BUT! It's worthwhile when I get to sit on the couch and watch my belly jump and move. I feel lots of movement now.. Sometimes I think they're having a rave in there. And baby girl is already tucked up in my ribs. The other night it felt like she was fist pumping... It doesn't hurt, yet. And I feel like I should save up all my complaining for when I'm farther along because I KNOW that doesn't look comfortable. What was Michelle Duggar thinking?! Yikes.

Maybe next week my blog post can be a little more chipper and less complain-y.. But I doubt it. :)

Have a great week!!

Love,
Olivia, Baby Girl, and Baby Boy
